“He Will Play More” – Manager Comments On Loanee’s Chances At Leeds

|

With the press harping fan concerns that Arsenal would recall on loan Leeds United striker Eddie Nketiah during the January transfer window owing to his lack of starts for manager Marcelo Bielsa so far, the story has fed itself for a while.

There are plenty like me who aren’t concerned about this, as if he was starting and scoring more regularly, we’d get the same stories based on the fact he was doing well, but Nketiah’s own words recently have simply fanned the flames in the press.

At the weekend, Arsenal manager Unai Emery was tasked with the question himself, and The Mirror quote him as hardly being concerned about the topic, fully expecting Nketiah to play more when he deserves to.

“Now is not the moment, we are in October. He is in Leeds and I respect the coach and his decision. Firstly I respect his coach and his decision. I think he is going to play more. He is going to deserve it. Each match he plays with Leeds and the national team is important for him and important for Arsenal also because we want him to get confidence and take experience and use it in the future for us. He is doing it. He is maybe playing less than we want, but I am sure he will play more.”

Having been mostly used as a substitute so far, especially when it comes to our Championship action, coming on at halftime against Birmingham City last weekend shows that Bielsa isn’t afraid to throw him in and it was the earliest he’d been introduced and I think we can read into that.
